Wright Plus - 104 days away...

Last week was pretty busy for me, prepping for the Wright Plus - House & Research Captain training that was yesterday. The training session went well and I'm excited for this year's event! I've attached a link (it's in the title of this post - we'll see how that works) so you can see what Wright Plus is all about. Over 500 volunteers, 2500 visitors, 8 amazing private homes and 3 amazing public buildings.

I think Bailey heard some mice in the wall today - this time it was in my living room (totally opposite side of my apt than where she caught the mouse in the kitchen a couple weeks ago). She spent at least an hour staring & smelling at the baseboards and the radiator - big eyes and very alert ears.

Enjoying the Grammies tonight - loved seeing Stevie Nicks, but unfortunately Taylor Swift was a bit sharp (prob too many nerves), so it sounded a bit off. Loved the Michael Jackson piece.

Don't forget to vote on Tuesday, if you have any elections going on (we are being bombarded with political ads right now - will be so glad when it is Wednesday)!

I hope everyone has a good week!
Well---as it turns out, the Drake/Creighton game was pretty exciting! So of course, the good guys won.

Loved the picture of the three little ones, Heather! I told Erin that we lost all of our birthday and Christmas pictures because of battery problems, so I am looking forward to lots of Christmas pictures. Everyone hear that???

We, too, are tired tired of cold and ice. We stay in mostly and try to keep the garage cats happy.
Watch Drake and Iowa if we get a chance.
Great picture, Heather!

Cheryl--you and Steve have some tickets for tomorrow night, don't you? We'll be at a Drake game which prob won't be as exciting!

test run

Here's an attempt at posting a picture, we'll see if it works... This is an old one, but I haven't downloaded Christmas pics yet. This was taken in October when the Nehres visited the Coopers.
Seems to have worked...
To post a pic, there's a button labeled "Add Image" on the new post tool bar (along with all the font stuff, bullets, etc.). Click that button and you can upload from your computer. There's also one to load videos, which is fun. (And since I'm not on facebook, Sarah & Erin...) :)
Okay, I'm supposed to be editing my LAST chapter while Andrew naps. Off to the races...

G&G are here!

I see Grandma listed in our About Us list - yay!!
I know Grandma was able to see the slideshow and my pic of Bailey, so this confirms our blog will be a great place to share stories and post pics of the latest and greatest stories of our lives (or even just the random thoughts, like I have had the last couple nights).
If any of you need help figuring out the nuances of this blog, posting pictures, etc..., let me know. I may need to figure it out at the same time, but I am glad to help!

2 things:
1 - I am so happy Barack Obama is our president. For the first time, in a long time, I was nodding during the State of the Union rather than shaking my head.
2 - I love snow, but not when it is blowing in my face while walking home from the train. Also - I don't like slippery snow, especially when I can't see a foot in front of me because of the snow blowing into my face. :)
I'm so glad everyone is paying attention--and 'blogging'!

I'm watching the State of the Union----and smiling! I continue to think that it's wonderful to have a President that I would love to have as a partner, a resident physician or a mentor--a logical mind is a wonderful thing!

Dave and Bella just got home from 'puppy class'. I'm anxious to hear about it--after I get done watching politics.

Still thinking about pics,
Becky

Car carrier, Andrew, ramblings....

So, I need to buy a cat carrier. Monday I had to take Butterscotch to the vet. He had tapeworms recently (thanks, Diane...) so we had to get a follow-up shot for that. And then his eye got all yucky looking. Anyway, we don't have a carrier and let me tell you, that is the last drive in the car without it! It was all I could do to keep him from crawling up into the engine compartment from under my feet. Thankfully the vet is about a 5 minute drive from our house. I always forget we don't have a carrier until we NEED it. Ugh.

Andrew tried to help keep 'Scotch calm on the ride, but it was pretty difficult. He has had some memorable one-liners, too:
Last night, he was spinning around and said, "daddy, the house is tippy!" A good way to describe it. He's been quite difficult of late (really whiny & defiant), so the humor was much appreciated. Thankfully the frustrating moments usually have an antidote. Like yesterday I was doing my hair before we left home and he said "Mommy, you look booo-tiful." I must remember those moments!

grrr..snow days

I wrote this yesterday, but before I posted I lost internet connection, so here it is anyhow...needless to say I'm glad we're back at school today. After spending all day at home with the kids, I was gone almost an hour to work out at the gym right across the street--just needed some time to myself...but here is what I had to say yesterday...

So I have never driven in conditions like I did yesterday. We were let out of school at 12:45 because of the blowing snow. I left right away, and there were times on the highway that I couldn't see anything. True white out...so last night they gave us a 2 hr. delay, and this morning ended up cancelling school altogether. We're now scheduled to go until Friday, June 4...another snow day (which is likely...we're only in Jan!!) and we'll be into the next week...oh well.

So the kids and I are just chilling today; and I discovered that the city of Denver has free wireless and we live close enough to the city center to get access :) That's a nice perk, I guess :)

Well, better go start laundry...both kids wet through pjs last night :(

love you all--
sarah

Nice job setting this all up, Erin. I will try to get some pics from Christmas posted for the fam to see!
I'm extremely tired of winter-- When will spring ever come again? Winter started soooo early. You know it is bad when Chloe goes out in the backyard and slip and slides until all 4's go out in opposite directions, and she lands on her belly looking quite embarassed. It's bad when the dog is ready for winter weather to be over!!

I'll continue trying to figure out how to get pictures uploaded. I have several of the 'kid' group.

Excitement at Erin's place

So, to start off the sharing of life's adventures...
My excitement this week was when Bailey caught a mouse!
Wednesday morning she was running back and forth around a table (kind of like a nightstand) that I have in my kitchen by the back door. After moving the table a couple of times so she could get around it, she pounced and ran off to the dining room. I saw she had something and yes, it turned out to be a mouse. First time we have had one in the apartment in the 2 1/2 years I have lived here.
Of course it was still alive, I am not sure she would have killed it, so I grabbed a piece of tupperware and put it on top of the mouse, and added a brick to the top of it, because Bailey really wanted to get to the mouse. Had to wait a couple of hours for the maintenance guys to show up and get rid of him. Cute little guy, but I really didn't want him inside my apartment.
I am quite proud of my sweet indoor-only kitty who's only other experience with mice has been at mom's house and Maggie or the other cats have always been the mouse catchers.
Gotta love the natural instincts of a cat! :)
